After deciding against moving for Antonio Conte earlier this season, the Red Devils have placed Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino, Ajax's Erik Ten Hag and Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers on their radar.
Manchester United have not seen any improvement under Rangnick, with the Red Devils losing their last Premier League game 1-0 to the Wolverhampton Wanderers.
According to the Daily Mail Rangnick's deal is not expected to be made permanent in summer and former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince believes that Pochettino is the coach who can help the team bounce back.
"[Problems] won't be solved in a year, maybe two years," Ince told Sky Sports.
"When I watched Chelsea-Liverpool I was just dreaming that I could see Man United playing like that one day because it was an unbelievable standard of football.
"I thought [Mauricio] Pochettino was the man, I've always clamoured for him to be the man. He still might be the man if PSG don't win the Champions League. But whoever the man is has to have a four-year project. This team needs investment."
Ten Hag is ready for the leap
Meanwhile, when asked back in December whether he is prepared to coach a European powerhouse abroad, Ten Hag didn't hesitate to stress that he would cherish such a challenge.
"I think I'm ready for it [to move to a top foreign club]," Ten Hag told De Volkskrant.
"I would be happy to take up that challenge, but I'm not chasing it. If it turns out that that step will never come, I will not say that my coaching career has failed. But I think I have sufficient qualities to take on that challenge
